The article that we read about this topic also helped a little bit, but it mostly confused me on on this subject. What I really want to mention about it is something the author said about reading literature. They said, "In order to appreciate how it operates as a work of narrative art, we should read any piece of literary fiction at least twice before we can fully grasp what it has to offer." This really sums up how I learn; I've found that when I read something, a piece of literature for example, I have trouble focusing on the plot and noticing patterns and symbols at the same time. I considered rereading my summer reading books, although unfortunately I did not. I now know I should have, because then I might have grasped the concept of the story and the literary significance of both pieces more thoroughly. The author of this article suggested reading something the first time to understand the story and reading it a second time to find patterns and symbols, to dig deeper than the words on the page. Reading this part in the article was a light bulb moment for me because I'd never really thought seriously about rereading a story. I really appreciate that the author pointed this out and took the time to elaborate on it.
